View Document

Explanation

Use this activity to view a document file. You can view:

The original document in its original application.
A view copy of the original document.

This action can be performed on Document Details page, Document Overview page and My Document Approvals page. File operations on multiple documents, Document Macros and Document Process Actions are not supported in IFS Aurena client. Also operations involving extended files are not supported.

You can also use My Recent Document Activities page to view the recent document activities the logged-in User performed during the past 30 days. Additionally you can use My Recent Documents widget to view the last 10 document revisions that you have been working with for the past 30 days. You could choose to download the checked in file to view more details. For more information on the widget, you can refer Recent Documents Widget.

This activity uses IFS Aurena Agent. For details on the file operations that support Aurena Agent, refer to the Uses of Aurena Agent in Document Management.

Prerequisites

You must have view access to the document.
If you want to open the view copy, a read-only copy of the document must be checked in together with the original document. This is only supported in IFS Aurena Agent only. You also need a viewer that supports your view copy file format (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader™).

System Effects

After selecting a document for viewing, the system searches for the file and determines if you have view access to the document. Then, the application is opened and the file is displayed.
Document files that are checked in to the document revision (original or view copy) are downloaded. The downloaded folder path will depend on the browser. (E.g. in Google Chrome browser this path can be set in Customize and Control Google chrome\Settings\Downloads\Location.).
