Once the Schedule of Work Estimate has been created, the Schedule of Work Details section allows you to define specific information and requirements for your Schedule of Work Estimate. For example, you can enter a responsible person and specify if it is mandatory to connect Schedule of Work item lines to a subproject, project activity, and/or cost or revenue elements. Its also possible to enter a default sub project or activity that will be copied to the item lines. Review this section and make necessary adjustments.
The next step is to register item lines and their respective detail lines. If the Schedule of Work was created by copying from an existing one, adjust the items and detail lines as required.
For Schedule of Work Items, the fields Item Name and Quantity are the default mandatory fields, but there are multiple additional fields that can be defined. Default values such as BOQ Calculation Method and Sales Value Calculation are derived from the Schedule of Work Defaults page, but they can be updated on the item line.
For each item line, item details can be defined. Name and Quantity are the default mandatory fields. Define different resource types such as Inventory Parts, Purchase Parts, No Parts, and Project Resources, along with cost rates and other relevant information.
If a Quantity Breakdown Structure (QBS) is connected to the Schedule of Work Estimate, the Quantity Breakdown Structure command in the Schedule of Work header will be enabled. Selecting this command navigates you to the Quantity Breakdown Structure Navigator page.
If the Schedule of Work Estimate is not connected to a QBS, you can use the New QBS command in the Schedule of Work Estimates header to connect a new or existing QBS to your Schedule of Work Estimate.
If the Schedule of Work header is already connected to a QBS, you can update it using the Update QBS command in the Schedule of Work Estimate header. This allows you to connect your Schedule of Work to a new or existing QBS.
When the Schedule of Work header is connected to a QBS, you can connect QBS Nodes to Schedule of Work item lines. This can be achieved in three ways:
Selecting the Work Breakdown Structure command in the Schedule of Work header navigates you to the Work Breakdown Structure Navigator page.
If a Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) is connected to the project, you can connect CBS Nodes or Cost Elements in the CBS to Schedule of Work detail lines.
When Parent Cost Elements are defined for your company, you can connect them to the Parent Cost Element field in Schedule of Work detail lines. This acts as a filter for the Cost Elements field in the respective Schedule of Work detail line.
The Item Template in Schedule of Work items can be used as a template to create item lines.
The Item Template Adjustment field in the Schedule of Work Details specifies the percentage adjustment to your Item Templates. When item lines and detail lines are created, Cost Values/Rates and Sales Values/Rates are adjusted based on the specified percentage. You can update the Item Template Adjustment value in item lines before saving. Once saved, you will not be allowed to update the Item Template ID or the Item Template Adjustment values.
When needed, multiple item lines can be created using an existing Item Template Group or Item Template via the New Item Template command in Schedule of Work Items. This opens a dialog where you can choose to use an Item Template or an Item Template Group, and item lines and detail lines are created automatically based on the selection.
To update an existing item line using an Item Template, use the Update Item Using Template command. This replaces all item values with template values except the item name, and existing detail lines are replaced with those from the template.
Schedule of Work versions can be merged using the Merge Version command, allowing you to combine different versions into a single estimate version.
