Generate Additional Pack Capacity from Packing Instruction
Explanation
Use this activity to create additional pack capacity according to the
packing instruction connected to the shop order during the shop order receipt
process.
To generate additional pack capacity, click
Generate Additional Pack Capacity from Packing Instruction
on the Pack step in the Receive Shop Order
and Approve Operation
assistant.
Prerequisites
- A packing instruction must have been connected to the shop order.
- There is a remaining quantity to attach, meaning the quantity to
receive exceeds the capacity of the existing handling units.
- The existing shop order handling unit structure must correspond to
the packing instruction structure.
System Effects
When generating additional pack capacity, the system will follow these
steps:
- Increase the planned quantity to attach:
- The system will increase the planned quantity to attach to the
lowest level handling units that are already connected to the shop
order.
- Connect existing handling units:
- The system will connect existing handling units to the shop
order. Only handling units with remaining capacity and a parent
handling unit already connected to the shop order will be
considered.
- Create additional handling units:
- The system will create additional handling units according to
the packing instruction connected to the shop order.
Once the capacity has been increased, the system will use the additional
capacity to pack the remaining quantity that needs to be attached to a
handling unit. Please note that the additional pack capacity generated may
still be insufficient to accommodate the received quantity when combining
lot/batch numbers, condition codes, expiration dates, and availability
controls within the same receipt.
