Connect Part to Serial Lifecycle Group

Explanation

Use this activity to connect a serial lifecycle group to a serial tracked master part. A serial lifecycle group is used to group serial tracked part numbers where a serial number represents the same individual product, but in different lifecycle stages.

To connect a master part to a serial lifecycle group, enter the desired group in the Serial Lifecycle Group field and save.

Prerequisites

• A serial tracked master part must exist.
• A serial lifecycle group must exist.
• Auto Generate Serial Numbers must be disabled for the part.
• The part must neither have a serial reservation nor a part serial record for a serial number that already exists for another part connected to the same serial lifecycle group.
  • Part serial records with Current Position set to Unlocated and Operational Status set to Renamed are excluded from above prerequisite.

System Effects

The master part is linked to the serial lifecycle group. It will only be allowed for a serial number to be active for one part number within the serial lifecycle group at the time.
