Request to Defer Fault

Explanation

As a line technician, you can request to defer a fault. The fault deferral can then be approved or rejected by a maintenance operations controller (MOC) after reviewing.

To request a fault deferral, the device must be online.

You can resubmit a fault for deferral if the MOC has rejected the initial request to defer the fault.

Prerequisites

• A connection is required to perform this activity.
• The fault status must be Open.

System Effects

• The Requested Date is set for the fault and can be viewed on the Faults to be Deferred page.
•  The Deferral Request Status field on the Fault Details and Task Details pages changes to Pending.

Procedure

1. On the Aircraft Turn Details page for the turn you are working on, go to Work Tasks or Open Faults, click on the fault which must be requested to be deferred, or click Details.
2. On the Task Details or Faults Details page, click Request Deferral. The Select Reference page in Maintenix opens in the browser.
3.  Provide the deferral reference information and click OK.
