Assign Technicians to Turns
Explanation
Line supervisors can assign work on a turn to technicians considering the
required skills to complete the turn, and the technicians' availability.
Line supervisors can use the Turn Work Assignments page
as a high-level planning tool to assign a turn to technicians possessing
specific skills. You can assign technicians to turns by assigning
technicians to skills using a list or the Gantt chart.
Turn work assignments have the following statuses:
- Assigned - All required skills are assigned to
technicians and there are no conflicts with the resource assignments
- Unassigned - One or all of the required skills have not
been assigned to a technician
- No Required Skills - Required skills are not added
- Resource Conflict - One or more of the assigned
technicians is assigned to another task or turn at the same time. Resource conflict
usually occurs due to flight delays and you can define the parameters to show
the resource conflict on the Mobile Maintenance Parameters
page
Prerequisites
- The status of the aircraft turn must be Inbound,
Arrived or In
Maintenance.
- Define technicians - To perform this, the technicians' schedules must be defined
using resource groups. Follow the steps given below to do so:
- Create a site.
- Connect calendars and users to the site (Extended Site Info).
- Create a resource group (Resource Type: Person).
- Connect the site to the resource group.
- Add technicians to the resource group (Persons section).
- Connect the site and airport using the Airport
page.
Note: If the HCM component is used, then the HR schedule of the
person's primary scheduling employment is taken to get the availability. If
there is no HR Schedule, then the Work Time Calendar directly connected to
the person is taken to get the availability. To assign work to technicians,
users should have access to the site.
- Define the Show Inbound Turns for the Next (Hours)
and Show All Turns for the Last (Hours) fields on the
Airport page.
- Define work assignment display parameters to display resource conflicts (FLIGHT_DELAY_FOR_CONFLICT_MINS &
DISPLAY_RESOURCE_CONFLICT) on the Mobile Maintenance
Parameters page.
- Define skill requirements on the Default Turn Resource Requirements
page to obtain a required skill list by default.
- There must be an inbound and outbound flight for the turn.
System Effects
If the technician has been assigned to one or more skills to work on a turn,
the technician is able to view the particular turn on the
My Aircraft Turns page. To view turns for which a
technician has been assigned, on the My Aircraft Turns
page, the technician can click View Turns Assigned to Me on
the Mobile Maintenance for
Aviation mobile application, IFS Maintenance for Aviation, or select the Turns
Assigned to Me check box on the Mobile Maintenance for
Aviation web application.
