Degree of Occupation

Degree of occupation is a percentage linked to each employment period. A 100% degree of occupation represents a full-time employee. Any percentage below 100 is referred to as part-time employment.

The degree of occupation is normally related to the work time information. One hundred percent (100%) implies that the employee works for the specified number of hours based on, e.g., the normal weekly hours. The normal hours (40, 37, etc.), depend on the country, company, union, and so on. The number of hours that define the full working hours is found in the agreement.

The degree of occupation is affected by an entered employment reduction period. I.e., if the employee decides to work four days a week instead of five, for a time period, this is entered as a reduction of 20%.

The percentage of the degree of reduction is subtracted from the degree of occupation, and the difference is referred to as the Current Degree of Occupation (or Real Degree of Occupation). Note that the Current Degree of Occupation does not mean a change in the original agreement between employee and employer. The employee can have a full-time (100%) employment even if there is a current reduction. The current (real) degree of occupation is used primarily to analyze the current work force situation.
