Enter Combination Rules
Explanation
Use this activity to enter combination rules for a user group.
When you define combinations, there are several ways of marking the code parts:
- Enter a value on the code part. For legal combinations, users in this user group can enter this value on the
code part. For illegal combinations, users in the group cannot enter this value on the code part.
- Enter a space. For legal combinations, users in this user group can leave this code part blank. For illegal
combinations, users in the group cannot leave the code part blank.
- Enter a percent sign (%). For legal combinations, users in this authorization class can enter any value on
this code part. For illegal combinations, users in this class cannot enter values on the code part. You can also
enter a figure in the Account field, making either legal or illegal all accounts starting with that figure.
- Enter an underscore ( _ ). For legal combinations, users in this user group can enter this code part no
matter the value in this position. For illegal combinations, users in the group cannot enter the code part if it
contains a value in this position. For example, if you specify that Code B _3_ is illegal, users cannot enter
code part B in any case where the code part is three characters and has 3 in the second position.
Prerequisites
Before information on the combination rules is entered, the following must have been completed:
- The user group must have been entered in User Groups in IFS/Accounting Rules.
- The code part values must have been entered in Accounts and in Code Part Values in
IFS//Accounting Rules.
To validate the internal ledger postings, the Validate Combination Rules should be enabled in
Define Internal Ledgers page.
System Effects
As a result of this entry, the system checks that entered or created postings are valid according to the
combination rules.
