Add/Remove Characteristics for a Part Configuration Revision

Explanation

Use this activity when you want to add or remove characteristics for a configurable part. The characteristics associated with a specific part configuration revision are the only ones in the family that can be used in a configuration specification for that part.

To add/remove option values, expand the line of the relevant characteristic code.

The Characteristics which are of the type informational are always added as non-mandatory characteristics, and it is not possible to make it mandatory. Also pricing related settings are disabled as informational characteristics do not handle prices.

Note: You can only remove a characteristic from a part configuration revision if it is not used in any other objects.

Note: If the part configuration revision is in the Released status, a characteristic option value cannot be deleted, if any conditions or action rules exist for an effective structure or routing or for a structure or routing that will be effective in the future. Also, it cannot be deleted if rules exist related to work instruction, tools and/or combination tables. To delete a characteristic option value from a part configuration revision in the Released state, the rule must first be removed.

Note: Media displayed for a characteristic or an option value, for instance an image, can be a media that is directly attached on the Part Configuration Revision page, but media connected to either Configuration Family or Configuration Characteristics pages will also be displayed for the characteristic or option on the Part Configuration Revision page. The reason for this is the setup done in Object Connection Transformation. This setting is needed so the correct media is displayed when using the type Card view on the Create/Edit Configuration page.
