A business opportunity will not always lead to a customer order. In some industries, a business opportunity is also recorded when an agreement is to be created to establish the terms and prices for future business with a customer or prospect. In such cases, part lines should not be added to the opportunity. Therefore, the Business Opportunity/Lines tab is hidden and the Business Opportunity/Customer Agreement tab is displayed instead.
Business Type in the Business Opportunity page defines whether the opportunity is created to manage an agreement. If Business Type is selected as Customer Agreement, a customer agreement is created and linked to the opportunity revision. The customer agreement is created with Preliminary status and it will not be visible in the Customer Agreement page. The customer agreement can be updated directly from the Business Opportunity page and once confirmed, the status can be changed to Planned.
