Record and Sign for Work

Explanation

You can record work on a task to register work that is completed. You can also register the partial completion of a task such as when your shift is over or mark a step as awaiting inspection so that an inspector can inspect the work done by you.

You can record work for tasks and faults with no steps or multiple steps on the task, by clicking Record Work on the My Work, Work Tasks and the Task Details pages. If you wish to record work on a single step in the task, you can view the steps on the task in the Steps page accessed via Task Details and then click Record Work against the required step.

If there are steps on the task, then for each step that you worked on, you can set the step status as follows:

• For steps in Pending status, you can select a status of Partially Complete, Awaiting Inspection or Complete and then enter a step note. You must enter a step note if you select a status of Partially Complete.
• For Partially Complete steps you can be set to Awaiting Inspection or Complete. Alternatively you can complete all steps at the same time if no inspection is required for any steps. You cannot change the step status of steps marked as Awaiting Inspection, Completed or Not Applicable.

If no steps were on a task/fault, if you navigated to record work from the task meaning you wish to record work for all steps in the task, or if you selected to complete all steps, you are directed to record the corrective action taken. If you intend to complete work on the task/fault, you must enter the corrective action taken. For partial completion of work on a step, you are not required to enter the corrective action taken.

When you record work, the fields you see and the information you enter varies depending on the type of work you're doing. For example, if you are recording an inspection for a task without any parts to remove or install, you won't be required to enter information regarding part changes. If there are part changes pending on the task/fault, you can record removal and installation details and sign for the part changes, as required. Similarly, you can record tool use and record values for measurements, if they have been added to the task or fault, and proceed to sign for them. Actual hours added for tool usage or values added for measurement must be signed for. You can also sign for tool usage or measurements without adding actual hours or measurement values, if required.

If the steps for all tasks in a work package have been completed or are set as N/A, if all faults in the work package have been completed and if all part, tool and measurement recordings have been signed off, you must decide whether to proceed to complete the work package. If you decide to complete the work package you are directed to release the aircraft. Consequently if you decide you do not want to complete the work package, only the task or fault you selected to record work on, is completed or closed accordingly.

Prerequisites

• The task must be assigned to you.
• The task status must be In Work.
• The step status must be Partial, Pending or Awaiting Inspection.

System Effects

• If you finished your work on all the steps and signed off on all part, tool and measurement requirements, the task status changes to Complete, unless a task step was set as awaiting inspection or partially completed, in which case it remains In Work.
• For a fault, the fault status is Closed if you selected to close the fault on recording work or the status is Open if you wanted to continue working on the fault after recording work.
• The step note you added when you changed the step status is displayed in Step Actions accessed by clicking View Actions for Steps on Task Details. The step note is also added to Task Actions accessed via Actions Taken on the Task Details page for the status change you performed,  as well as your user name as the user who made the change and the time.
• The action taken you added when recording work is displayed in Task Actions and Fault Actions accessed via Actions Taken on the Task Details or Fault Details page. The action indicates the corrective action note recorded by you, as well as your user name as the user who made the change and the time.
• Any part changes, tools used and measurements recorded that were signed off by you reflect that you signed for them in the Task Part Changes, Task Tools Used and Task Measurements pages respectively.
•  If the installed quantity you recorded is less than removed quantity a part change in the Pending status is created for the remaining quantity of parts and displayed in Task Part Changes and Fault Part Changes if there is a connected fault.
